The BAM Collective is a South African womenswear brand that specialises in taking an alternative, spirited approached to luxury fashion. Deeply rooted in an appreciation for the country’s unique spirit, the brand approaches each season with a new philosophy as a lens to express its concept of an optimistic South African utopia.
Founder Jacques Bam started designing at the age of nine and always knew he wanted to be part of the fashion industry. Completing both his Bachelor and Honours degrees cum laude at LISOF Fashion Design School in Johannesburg, his graduate collection, Hedonism, earned him a place among the finalists for best graduate collection and inclusion in the school’s Design Indaba simulcast in 2018.
Considered one of the local industry’s brightest stars, Bam was invited to participate in the Ford Figo Ka Mzolo music video and campaign, a project which brought together rising talents from various creative industries to star alongside their work and the new Ford Figo in 2018.
In the same year he won the SAFW Student Design competition and collaborated on a limited-edition capsule range with retail chain, Mr Price, entitled BAM x MRP which launched in-store nationally in April 2019.
Following Internships with established South African brands ERRE and Isabel De Villiers, Jacques’s collection Pluralism earned him a finalist place in the 2019 SA Fashion Week New Talent. He has since also participated in Mozambique Fashion Week.
